My Recount and My Reflection
My Life Went To Waste
All of a sudden there is a big BOOM!!! The boat flies into mid air and lands upside down in the blood red sea.
I’m hanging off the boat with hardly any grip. My heavy bag is pulling me down into the blood red sea. I can feel water filling my uniform.

We have been learning to play the Ukulele with Mrs Talijaard.
Peace One Day
As part of our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been learning about World Peace Day on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms 19 and 22. We had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite or a food from our culture. This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

Area Evidence
I am learning to solve area problems by using the formula length x width.
I am so proud of learning how to measure the width and length and then using this to work out the area of a shape.
It can be tricky to multiply the length times the breadth if the numbers are big.

My Speech
My Speech about Hot Chocolate
Do you agree with me that hot chocolate should be sold for $1.00 dollar at our lunchroom instead of $2.00 dollars?
* Why is hot chocolate not $1.00 at Elm Park
school? Just now it costs $2.00 to buy a hot chocolate from our lunchroom. I think it would be better if it was cheaper to buy hot chocolate because more people would buy it from the lunch room from Mrs De Villiers.
Mrs de Villiers could be helpful by making the hot chocolates cost only $1.00 and make it more affordable for more people to buy it.
This money will go to help the year 6’s next year so the more people that buy hot chocolate the more money will be raised for the school.
* People always seem to have $1.00 in their pockets, but when the hot chocolate is $2.00 people don't have enough money and this stops the students and teachers from buying it.
* So my conclusion— If the hot chocolate is $1.00
people will buy more and this will increase the
schools profit. Over the wet or cold winter days,
students and teachers will want to try and keep warm and drinking hot chocolate is a great way of doing this and at the same time making profits for the school.
So my time is up so I hope Mrs De Villiers will make the price $1.00 dollar and not keep it the hot chocolate At $2.00 dollars.

RACECAR Strategy
I am learning to use the RACECAR problem solving strategy.
I am so proud of using a new strategy for my Maths.
It can be tricky to choose the correct strategy to work out the answer to the problem eg choose Number Line, Place Value Partitioning, Reversability
My Parents can help me by giving me some problems at home and practising it with me.
The next step for me in my learning is to use this strategy to help me to solve harder sums.
